Recopilación realizada en trabajo de campo de estudio ejecutado por el Observatorio de Fundación de las Familias que utiliza la técnica de fotovoz para indagar en experiencias y significados asociados a los cuidados de la vida cotidiana. La metodología fue muy bien recibida por las y los participantes, en total participaron 105 usuarias(os), de todas las edades, de distintos centros FUNFA del país. Se observa fotografía del trabajo de campo, así como fotografías compartidas por las y los participantes en las sesiones grupales. En ellas es posible identificar distintos ámbitos del cuidado e intencionalidad de la imagen, tales como: foto denuncia (foto 2), foto explícita de rutinas de cuidado (foto 3), foto metafórica (la escalera, foto 4) y foto vinculada al necesario auto cuidado de quien cuida, en su mayoría mujeres (foto 5).
¿Por qué son importantes estas fotografías en particular para su investigación?
Son muy importantes ya que por un lado reflejan el proceso de levantamiento de información, que contó con una alta participación y adherencia de las y los usuarios(as) FUNFA, y compromiso de los equipos territoriales. Y por otro lado, las fotografías permitieron motivar la conversación y reflexión en cada grupo. El contacto con la fotografía, tanto con su materialidad como con la imagen, sumado a la vivencia asociada, generó un ánimo virtuoso de conversación, reflexión y emotividad en todos los grupos, principalmente en adultos y personas mayores. Para FUNFA ha sido todo un descubrimiento, desafío y aprendizaje trabajar con esta metodología. Destacamos la potencia de fotovoz para poner en escena situaciones cotidianas pero invisibles, como es el caso de los cuidados. La apertura y confianza de las y los participantes, sumado a la conducción grupal de los equipos FUNFA, ha permitido hablar de los cuidados en todas sus dimensiones, con sus luces y sombras. Esta experiencia nos anima a seguir trabajando y explorando fotovoz con otros temas de interés.
Compilation carried out in a fieldwork study executed by the Observatory of Fundación de las Familias, which uses the photovoice technique to investigate experiences and meanings associated with care in daily life. The methodology was very well received by the participants; a total of 105 users of all ages from different FUNFA centers in the country participated. Photographs of the field work are shown, as well as photographs shared by the participants in the group sessions. In them it is possible to identify different areas of care and the intentionality of the image, such as: denunciation photo (photo 2), explicit photo of care routines (photo 3), metaphorical photo (the ladder, photo 4) and photo linked to the necessary self-care of the caregiver, mostly women (photo 5).
Why are those particular photographs important to your research?
They are very important because, on the one hand, they reflect the information gathering process, which had a high level of participation and adherence of FUNFA users, and the commitment of the territorial teams. On the other hand, the photographs helped to motivate conversation and reflection in each group. The contact with photography, both with its materiality and with the image, added to the associated experience, generated a virtuous mood of conversation, reflection and emotion in all the groups, mainly in adults and the elderly. For FUNFA it has been a discovery, a challenge and a learning experience to work with this methodology. We highlight the power of photovoice to stage everyday but invisible situations, such as caregiving. The openness and trust of the participants, together with the group leadership of the FUNFA teams, has allowed us to talk about care in all its dimensions, with its lights and shadows. This experience encourages us to continue working and exploring photovoice with other topics of interest.
