Basado en mi experiencia laboral con la vivienda rural en Arequipa, pude observar como la arquitectura se vuelve un medio importante que impacta transversalmente en diferentes escalas de las comunidades. La intervención del estado a partir de la entrega de viviendas a estas poblaciones, no solo repercute en el espacio físico intervenido y propio de sus beneficiarios, sino también funciona como un medio de intercambio entre la ciudad y el mundo rural. La intervención arquitectónica dirigida por actores externos al mundo rural, en este caso el sistema político público, se viene realizando sin una aparente conciencia sobre el impacto cultural y social en las costumbres de estas comunidades, las cuales encuentran formas de apropiarse de ellas y empiezan a entablar un diálogo entre estos mundos.
¿Por qué esas fotografías en particular son importantes para su investigación ?
La serie de fotografías recopiladas durante el periodo que trabaje con ellos y ellas, muestra estas formas de dialogo entre la ruralidad como un espacio orgánico y la intervención arquitectónica externa, que la entiendo como ajena y artificial a la identidad local.

Based on my work experience with rural housing in Arequipa, I was able to observe how architecture becomes an important medium that has a transversal impact on different scales of the communities. The intervention of the state from the delivery of houses to these populations, not only has an impact on the physical space intervened and owned by its beneficiaries, but also works as a means of exchange between the city and the rural world. The architectural intervention directed by actors external to the rural world, in this case the public political system, has been carried out without an apparent awareness of the cultural and social impact on the customs of these communities, which find ways to appropriate them and begin to engage in a dialogue between these worlds.
Why are these particular photographs important to your research?
The series of photographs collected during the period that I worked with them, shows these forms of dialogue between rurality as an organic space and the external architectural intervention, which I understand as foreign and artificial to the local identity.
